BDC Community Capital Corp. is a not-for-profit, U.S. Treasury-certified Community Development Financial Institution (CDFI). We exist to improve capital flows to minority-owned businesses and to businesses that impact low-to-moderate income employment opportunities throughout New England. We accomplish this mission by providing capital, education, and technical assistance within these target markets.
We provide financing solutions tailored to help your business grow, stabilize, and succeed when traditional bank lending is not enough. Our team works alongside you and your existing lenders to build a plan that fits your situation.
Operating as a private company gives us room to work with challenging credits and structure deals that regulated banks cannot accommodate on their own
Our daily-followed asset-based lending provides real-time tracking and maximum availability, giving you working capital when you need it most.
We work alongside your existing banking relationships, preserving treasury services and deposits while providing the specialized gap financing.
Headquartered in Providence with offices across New England, we know the regional market, seasonal patterns, and business dynamics that shape Rhode Island lending.
In 2018, the BDC Capital board launched an initiative to more directly target capital toward minority-owned businesses and companies that create jobs in low-to-moderate income communities. After significant research, BDC determined that the right answer was to support the formation of a separate, not-for-profit CDFI with that as its sole mission.
A task force conceptualized the new mission, documented the entity, recruited an independent governing board, and built out the team and the loan and investment programs. Lending began in 2020. Soon after, BDC Community Capital Corp. received formal CDFI certification from the U.S. Department of the Treasury and entered partnerships with the Worcester Business Development Corporation and the Massachusetts Capital Access Program to underwrite and service additional loans.
Today, BDC Community Capital offers credit lines, working capital loans, real estate and equipment financing, loan guarantees, mezzanine investments, and equity in amounts ranging from $5,000 to several million dollars per company across the six New England states.
Certified Community Development Financial Institution authorized to direct mission capital to the businesses and communities that need it most.
Affiliated with BDC Capital, founded in 2021 and the oldest business development corporation in the United States, with more than $2 billion invested in New England businesses.
Active across Massachusetts, Connecticut, Rhode Island, New Hampshire, Vermont, and Maine.
Our leadership and lending team brings deep banking, credit, and community development experience to every relationship.
