Cash collateral guarantees for loans up to $500,000 from BDC Capital. Designed to help Massachusetts banks and credit unions write more small business loans by reducing collateral requirements. No SBA waiting period, no federal red tape, and CRA credit on every enrolled loan.

Massachusetts Recycling Loan Fund

Direct loans from $50,000 to $500,000 for Massachusetts businesses active in recycling and re-use. Funded by the Massachusetts Department of Environmental Protection, administered by BDC Capital. Terms up to ten years for working capital, debt refinance, real estate, machinery and equipment, and acquisitions.

Rhode Island SSBCI Loan Participations

Loan participations from $100,000 to $3 million for Rhode Island businesses with fewer than 500 employees. Administered by RI Capital under the State Small Business Credit Initiative. Lowers bank credit risk, retains client and ancillary banking services, and creates a CRA credit opportunity on each loan.

Frequently asked questions

Who qualifies for an SSBCI loan participation?

Any for-profit or non-profit business headquartered in Rhode Island with 500 or fewer employees, including affiliates.

How large can an SSBCI participation be?

RI Capital's participation ranges from $100,000 to $3 million. The total combined deal between the bank or lender and RI Capital cannot exceed $20 million.

What is the maximum participation percentage?

50%, although most loans are expected to fall in the 25% to 40% range.

How is RI Capital's piece structured?

Typically as a subordinated participation, meaning RI Capital is subordinated to the bank or lender in the event of default.

What can SSBCI funds be used for?

Any business purpose, including purchase or refinancing of owner-occupied commercial real estate, leasehold improvements, and equipment loans, either stand-alone or alongside a real estate transaction.

What is not eligible?

Passive real estate and owner cash-out or dividends.

How long is the maximum loan term?

Up to 25 years.

What are the fees?

1% on RI Capital's participation amount. Total fees, including the bank or lender, cannot exceed 3%. The borrower is responsible for all closing costs.
